Seasonal Allergen Guide Learn which allergens to watch out for each season. Spring: The most common spring allergens include invisible pollens from hardwood deciduous trees like oak, elm, birch, maple, ash, alder, olive, acacia and hazel. Grass pollens are also present. Summer: Be aware of sweet vernal and orchard grass, as well as timothy, bluegrass, fescue, redtop and perennial rye. In the southern U.S., Bermuda, Johnson and salt grasses have particularly long seasons. Fall: During an average season from August until October, ragweed plants can produce a billion pollen grains each day. Molds are also in full force — especially the South and Midwest. Winter: Since you're often indoors during winter, household allergens like molds, dust mites and animal dander tend to be most troublesome.
